achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families in our community.
We welcome those 14-15 years old accompanied by adult 21 years or older, 16-17 years old (with parental permission) and older
FOR FIRST TIME HABITAT VOLUNTEERS:

18 and over: Adult Volunteer Application

Court-ordered community service: Community Service Volunteer Application
STEP 2 - Complete online training course(s):
Required: "ReStore Safety and Loss Control for Volunteers"
"New Employee Safety Orientation"
Complete courses through Lockton training here. 
The access code is W8NAEBTG. Newberg Habitat will receive a copy of your certificate when it is complete.
STEP 3 - Schedule your required volunteer orientation here. This must be done before you participate in any activites.
ON COMPLETION OF THE ONLINE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION, THE LOCKTON TRAINING AND FIRST TIME ORIENTATION
You may proceed to the calendar below (or link in your email) to sign up for your desired shift time(s).
We ask you register at least one week in advance.
Request times may be submitted for two months in advance.
This volunteer experience may include lifting of heavy items and exposure to chemicals and/or sharp objects.
ReStore Safety Rules
Wear Safe Clothing
- Sleeved shirts (lightweight in the summer/layers in the winter)
- No offensive or political clothing (as determined by Habitat staff)
- Closed toe shoes with gripping soles
- No baggy pants or short shorts
Work Smarter, Not Harder
- Follow instructions
- Remember to lift with the legs, not with the back
- Move items with equipment rather than physical labor, when possible
- Place tools and equipment in their proper locations
- Use work gloves
- Work in teams when lifting heavy materials and using ladders
- Keep walkways clear and accessible
- Take breaks
- Stay hydrated
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
- Watch out for other workers and customers
- Be aware of forklift activity
- Keep ReStore clean
- Keep walkways clear and accessible
- Stay alert
- No cell phone use in the ReStore -- you may use your cell phone during your break - in the breakroom or off the premises
- No smoking (tobacco products or e-cigerettes) on Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity premises
In recognition of the federal labor laws regarding children and the potential risk to children's safety, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed to volunteer at the ReStore unless working with an adult over 21 years of age or an approved group. Furthermore, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to do any of the ultra hazardous activities; including the use of power tools, motor vehicles, demolition, roofing, or working from a height of six feet or more.
